"The Midtown Greenway, if thoughtfully integrated with Lake Street and the surrounding neighborhoods, could be the most significant change to South Minneapolis in our lifetime. The Greenway is more than a bike path or transit corridor. It is a means to connect the Chain of Lakes with the Mississippi River, revitalize our city, enhance our experience of the urban environment, and bring together diverse people and neighborhoods.

The Midtown Greenway Coalition is a citizens group dedicated to leading a community-based process to develop and continually improve the Midtown Greenway corridor. The Coalition's five programs — Land Use Planning, Transit, Art, Adopt-A-Greenway, and Outreach — are combined in a holistic manner to help accomplish this objective.

We are pleased to be a participant in the Midtown Community Works Partnership. As a neighborhood voice in the partnership, we will work closely as a team in a constructive manner with government, political and business leaders to make the Greenway/Lake Street Corridor a grand urban amenity to be enjoyed by all.

The Coalition represents 16 neighborhoods along the Midtown Greenway and Lake Street as well as users of the corridor from throughout the area. We hope to bring vision, energy, and dedication of citizens to accomplish our vision of the area. We recognize the corridor as a unique opportunity, which will not only significantly improve our community, but serve as a national model for similar developments of abandoned rail corridors in other urban centers." — Bob Corrick
